Globe energy award

Fyne Futures’ Towards Zero Carbon Bute project has been singled out for the UK Energy Globe Award for Best Project 2014, as an outstanding project that has delivered significant carbon reductions on the Isle of Bute through recycling, waste management, reuse of furniture, growing local produce, raising awareness and promoting behavioural change across a number of themes including low carbon travel initiatives, energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Towards Zero Carbon Bute has reduced the islands emissions by 5,274 tonnes of CO2e.

Even reading that list makes you aware of just how active this project is and just how much it does.

In addition to all of this, the company promotes training, education and health improvements, with a particular focus on alleviating unemployment on the island.

The winning projects range from high-tech to simple but effective ideas, providing solutions to most of our environmental problems – be it through energy efficiency or renewable energy use or the careful use of our resources – like water.

All national Energy Globe winners from more than 160 countries will be introduced online at the Energy Globe website here under Energy Globe’s unique and global online Best Practice Week. Kick-off date is the UN World Environment Day on 5th June. Under the patronage of UNESCO and in cooperation with UNEP and UNIDO this unique awareness raising campaign from Energy Globe runs under the motto: ‘We save the planet by acting, not by talking . Sustainability starts with you!
’

Sustainable projects can already be submitted for the Energy Globe Awards 2015. All details and the entry form are available for download from the Energy Glob website here. Contact: Energy Globe , Cornelia Kirchweger , T: +43 7617 2090-30
